A las 7:00 p.m. del 1 de agosto de 1971 se realizaba el primer recital benéfico de la historia, "The Concert For Bangladesh". De no ser por esta idea George Harrison, no hubieran existido megaconciertos como el Live Aid y el Live 8. Contó con la participación Bob Dylan, Ravi Shankar, Ringo Starr, Eric Clapton, Leon Russell y Billy Preston. También se quizo unir de nuevo a los Beatles pero Paul y John, por diferencias, no quisieron.
